"This course is aimed at workers who are involved in implementing and working within Warwickshire’s Safeguarding Adults policies and procedures, who need to have an understanding of these.
This course will enable participants to gain a greater understanding of what steps to take when receiving Safeguarding Adults/notifications and is the initial course of a wider programme focusing on Safeguarding Adults, Investigations and Achieving Best Evidence (although not all workers, because of their role will need to undertake this other course and may take this course as a stand alone programme)."

AMHP Refresher Training 2010 Workshop 1 - Working With High Risk PatientsMH062
This course is designed to enable professionals an opportunity to reflect on the role of social supervisor as defined in the Mental Health Act and the Ministry of Justice publications.  It will cover a brief over-view of the Criminal Justice and Mental Health Systems in working with Mentally Disordered Offenders.  It will enable an update on case law, presentation from the Ministry of Justice and an opportunity to work through some of the dilemmas in preparing for and undertaking effective social supervision.

AMHP Refresher Training 2010 Workshop 2 - Domestic AbuseMH065
This course forms part of the 2010 AMHP Refresher training and will be looking at raising awareness of Domestic abuse and it's interaction with mental distress. Participants will get the opportunity to look at related aspects such as risk evidence, possible legal recourse, resources and to familiarise themselves with local procedures.

Care and Control of Medicines - Care Homes WQP (Foundation) Taught ProgrammeWQ011
The programme covers all aspects of the administration and handling of medicines in the care setting and links to the Skills for Care Knowledge Set for Medication.  The programme is accredited by the College of Pharmacy Practice.

Caring for People Affected by StrokeOP039
This programme provides an introduction to caring for people affected by stroke.  It should equip workers with the basic knowledge about the condition, how to communicate effectively and how to care for people's physical needs after stroke.

Common Induction Standards (Adults) - Module 1 - The Principles of CareOP078
This workshop covers standard 1 of the Common Induction Standards - Principles of Care. This module can be taken as stand alone or in conjunction with the other 3 Common Induction Standards modules available.

This series of workshops  contributes to the completion of common induction standards for direct care staff within Older Peoples Services.  Direct Care Staff need to attend these three core workshops to gain underpinning knowledge and theory to support the common induction standards.  Managers and mentors within Direct Care Services will support the individual through the induction process via completion of a supplementary workbook and on the job training

Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS) Awareness Training workshopNS232
This programme has been developed as a basic awareness of the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.

The deprivation of liberty safeguards provide legal protection for those vulnerable people who are, or may become, deprived of their liberty within the meaning of Article 5 of the ECHR in a hospital or care home, whether placed under public or private arrangements.  They do not apply to people detained under the Mental Health Act 1983.  The safeguards exist to provide a proper legal process and suitable protection in these circumstances where deprivation of liberty appears to be unavoidable, in a person's own best interest

Learning Disability AwarenessDS100
This workshop looks at how a Learning Disability may impact upon an individual and how society sees Learning Disability.

People working with people with Learning Disabilities need to complete the Learning Disability Qualification Induction Award (LDQ Induction). This workshop combined with the 4 Common Induction Standards modules will give workers the knowledge to complete the LDQ Induction.

Valuing People Now asks us to develop the workforce locally to support everyone with a Learning Disability and to influence the recruitment, learning and development of workers in public services so that people are treated equally by mainstream services.

Recognising & Responding to Adult Abuse and Neglect - In Depth KnowledgeNS186
This programme builds on the knowledge from the introductory course, “Recognising and Responding to Adult Abuse and Neglect- Foundation Learning”.  Applicants should have completed the Foundation Level Recognising & Responding to Adult Abuse and Neglect workbook or short course, or should have completed either Common Induction Standards training in adult social care, LDQ2 or LDAF. The programme takes an in depth look at good practice relating to identifying types of abuse, and the signs that can indicate abuse and neglect. Good practice in communication and how to respond to disclosures of abuse and neglect are explored, together with looking more closely at the participants role and responsibilities in the adult protection process. Links to other relevant legislation is examined, and the course looks at good practice in preserving evidence and record keeping/report writing.

Recognising & Responding to Adult Abuse and Neglect (Foundation Knowledge)NS185
This programme provides foundation level knowledge of the definition and types of adult abuse & neglect, signs that can indicate abuse and neglect, an introduction to the legislative and policy base around adult abuse, and how to respond to disclosures of abuse and neglect.

This programme is delivered in either of two ways-   workbook learning or short course format:-

Short course-1 day taught short course (10am-3pm). (No new dates are available at this present time)

Workbook learning-The workbooks are designed to be completed through individual or group learning, and are supervisor/manager led. There is a Managers Guide available to instruct managers/supervisors on how to use the workbook with their staff. Workbooks are issued against individual named workers, and certification issued on return of the workbook assessment sheets contained at the end of the workbooks. Orders of up to 3 workbooks can be posted by second class mail. Orders of more than three workbooks can be collected from one of the locations shown on the order form.

WSCB - Working Together to Safeguard Children - Improving Interagency CommunicationCS055
The popular area-based, one day, multi-disciplinary/multi-agency workshop on Communication in Child Protection.  This programme aims to improve inter-agency working by promoting effective communication and working relationships with practitioners and professionals to safeguard children.
* It is recommended that this programme be attended before attending other WSCB Level 2 training.
* It should be accessed every 5 years as a minimum for updating purposes
* To promote networking participants should attend the workshop which corresponds with the area in which they work.
